Ringgold County, Iowa (pop 5,421) is a rural county in South Central Iowa. More precisely it is in the southern tier of counties in Iowa on the Missouri border and is the 4th county east of the Missouri River. The county seat is Mount Ayr, with a population of 1822 residents. Agriculture is the major economic engine driving the county. In the Northeast corner is Sun Valley Lake. The number of homes will exceed 440 in Sun Valley this year. It is a private lake owned by an association of the homeowners. Other towns include Diagonal, Kellerton, Tingley, Ellston, Beaconsfield, Redding, Delphos, Maloy, and Benton.
