Ringgold County, Iowa (pop 5,421) is a rural county in South Central Iowa. More precisely it is in the southern tier of counties in Iowa on the Missouri border and is the 4th county east of the Missouri River. The county seat is Mount Ayr, with a population of 1822 residents. Agriculture is the major economic engine driving the county. In the Northeast corner is Sun Valley Lake. The number of homes will exceed 460 in Sun Valley this year. It is a private lake owned by an association of the homeowners. Other towns include Diagonal, Kellerton, Tingley, Ellston, Beaconsfield, Redding, Delphos, Maloy, and Benton.
Known for its excellent hunting and traditional midwest farm community values, Ringgold County is an excellent place to come visit and stay a lifetime. The county public school systems strive to provide quality education to our younger residents
in the county. Ringgold County Hospital recently open a new hospital that provides a broad
range of medical services to area residents. Local parks, museum and lakes provide
a wide range of recreational activities.
